Structural steel design & installation for Mooloolah IGA

The demands on project managers in commercial construction are many. Primo Property brought Besteel on to coordinate the design, fabrication and installation of the structural steel elements on the Mooloolah Valley IGA extension. We removed a significant amount of decision-making stress, keeping the construction on track and allowing Primo Properties to focus on other elements of the development.

Creating value with our design coordination  

Extensions and renovations can be quite challenging. It’s important that the new part of a building is consistent with the old, requiring exact matches for roof, wall, and window heights as well as other visual elements like architectural features in the building façade. The Mooloolah Valley IGA project had exposed trusses with a bespoke design on the front awning which we reverse engineered and fabricated to match the existing trusses.

Besteel took care of the structural steel design, engineering certification, fabrication, protective coatings as well as installation. Having a single point of contact and responsibility for the structural steel scope appealed to Primo property as it allowed their Project Managers to focus their attention on other areas of the project.

As Besteel is part of Steelmart Group, we have increased buying power for commercial projects like the Mooloolah IGA. We leveraged direct-to-mill steel orders and import steel orders made by the Steelmart purchasing team to keep costs down.
